Vintage style faires with a Paris Flea Market feel

Meet the
Tumbleweed Cotillion Founders
Tracey Buxton
Tracey Buxton loves to take old furniture and reinvent it into something new and
beautiful.
Her dream car is an old 1958 Chevy truck (which she doesn't actually have yet,
but she is saving her pennies in the hopes of one day to be the proud owner of a
classic old pickup.)
After years of painting vintage pieces for herself, her kids college houses, for
friends homes, she finally decided to take it up a notch and do a few well chosen
Craft Faires. She named her little business "A Cottage Industry".

You are probably wondering what the words “tumbleweed” and “cotillion” have in common.
Well, to find out we invite you on a journey. A while back Adrienne traveled to Spokane, WA to
visit her sister as well as to attend The Farm Chicks Antique Show. She came back to Reno
completely inspired by the event and with her creative juices flowing.
Similarly, Tracey journeyed to the Portland, OR area where she perused the Willow Nest
Flea Market. Determined that Reno is ready for a high end “Paris Style” flea market event, she
returned home brimming with excitement and began planning the details for an event that would
be as fun and fabulous as the one she had attended up north. Long story short, the gals met and
collaborated to create The Tumbleweed Cotillion. A group of individuals with a love for all
things vintage…a little bit of farm junk and a little bit of French finery.
Their hope was not only to create events that would be an opportunity to promote community
amongst the many wonderful small businesses and cottage industries in the area, and add a bit
of charm and whimsy to the kindred spirits that attended the cotillion.
They hosted a second Tumbleweed Cotillion together in June of 2008 before deciding to
coordinate solo events.
Adrienne Mineiro
Growing up with a mom who was an avid seamstress and cook, Adrienne
learned the joy of creating beautiful things at an early age. Years later she and
her husband moved to Melbourne, Australia where a passion for all things
vintage was born. Frequenting flea markets and antique stores, Adrienne
developed a keen eye for charming and unique finds.

. Time passed, and after about 5 years of Craft Faires, Tracey decided it was at last time to take herself
very seriously and...open a REAL SHOP.
She made up goals and a time line, and low and behold, in April of 2006 Tracey found the most darling
space for rent at a quaint cobble stone mall.. Advertised as 94 square feet (it was actually a whopping 8 by
8 shop, but who's counting?) Tracey grabbed the little shop and made it a haven for her wares.
In October of 2006 Tracey expanded her little shop by moving to the cottage shop next door- doubled in
size- 128 sq. feet and loved every minute of it. When the time commitment became too burdensome (she
has a grown up job Mondays through Fridays each week as well) a year later, Tracey decided another
change was needed, and closed the doors on her shop to pursue other adventures.
Currently Tracey showcases her painted vintage furniture at various Trunk and Porch Shows, and in Junkees
Antique Mall here in Reno, NV (960 S. Virginia Street in the old Resco Restaurant Supply warehouse) as
well as the Tumbleweed Cotillion fairs.
You'll find Tracey on most Saturdays, painting furniture, baking cupcakes or making paper crafts in her little
cottage that she is reinventing with much love and creativity, in Reno, NV where she lives along with her
faithful Golden Retriever, Bear, and her Grand-dog Moose.
Now with two small children, Adrienne divides her time between caring for her ‘little blessings’ and
dreaming up ways to breathe new life into old treasures. Her company, The Vintage Empire, offers an
eclectic mix of painted furniture, whimsical vintage artwork, and French country accent pieces. As well,
Adrienne has a handcrafted jewelry line with pieces made from vintage items such as typewriter keys,
crosses and rhinestone brooches.
